Unplugged weddings!

Happy weekend everyone!!  I just got done completing the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure 5k this morning with Glen.  Lots of pink! Everywhere!

Along the race route, I saw many weddings in the early stages of set up.  Today is going to be a busy day downtown!
I have a wedding rehearsal today with my co-author, +Chad Baker of +Married in Savannah and +Elope to Savannah, in one of the squares and then we have a wedding tonight at 7! I'm so excited since the weather is so gorgeous and spring is in the air!

After I got home from the race, I was checking facebook for photos and I came across this:

This is a problem all of us photographers have: fighting the family paparazzi! It is infinitely annoying to try to compete with a mob of family members trying to get the same shot as you or shooting over your shoulder.  But what is really sad, is that while everyone is trying to get the perfect shot while ruining MINE, they aren't paying attention to what's happening!  Notice the lady on the left isn't even facing the couple!
When I am hired as a photographer, I will get all the shots everyone needs of the important events...especially during the key moments and the ceremony especially. So everyone, think about putting your cameras, phones and for the LOVE of everything GOOD PLEASE LEAVE THE IPADS at home hahaha!!!

Trust me, I've been doing this for a while, I'll get the shot. That's why the couple hired me and it's my job.

Candid shots by guests at the reception are fine, but the ceremony needs to be paid attention to, in my opinion.  Otherwise, your friends or family will end up with photos like this!

So my advice to you is put the electronics away during the ceremony at least and trust the professionals. That's why we're there!

Why eloping and small weddings are somtimes the best option

Hello! My first post in this blog! Having been involved with nearly all aspects of the wedding business for many years, one thing I've found that I really love doing is officiating elopements and small weddings.
Why would someone elope or have a very intimate small wedding? Many reasons come to mind, among those are budget, time, romance!, and also a no frills way to get legally connected to the one you love either just by yourself or with your CLOSEST friends and family present.
Big weddings can cost thousands of dollars and for some couples this isn't practical. Some have been married before or just don't want all the drama and stress a big wedding can create.
Savannah is the perfect place to elope or have a small destination wedding. There isn't a place where the area isn't filled with beauty and gorgeous natural backdrops perfect for photos and walking around sightseeing with those closest to you.
The ceremony performed for this couple above on Tybee Island was intimate and really allowed for them to connect in a more personal way. Then they had great photo time with +Lizard Eye Photo afterwards for some great photo time before going off into the sunset, literally, together as a married couple!
Hopefully +Elizabeth Osterberger and I can help show everyone why THIS is the place to come to get married or elope!
With +Elope to Savannah and +Married in Savannah you can't go wrong!

Visual Serendipity. Pretty Twins. Photo sharing!

In my search for learning new ways to reach out to people, I went to talk to a consultant today to learn some new tricks of the trade.

Part of what he told me was to share. Sharing is what photography is all about. Sharing what you see with other people, from your point of view. So tonight I share a photo from my friend Eduardo's blog.

Well, it looks like I've got the blog on one of the websites where it needs to go! Hopefully this will help the business for both +Lizard Eye Photo and the other two businesses that I apparently need to get online here at google.

It's been a long long few days of taking photos, editing photos, house sitting, missing my partner in crime, trying to get lots of stuff done.

Tomorrow will open a new chapter in the lives of some people I know and hopefully everything goes smoothly!

This is a really random photo of a  pretty awesome view from a treehouse in Thunderbolt!

Anyway, over and out!
